I made this video to highlight the simple yet incredibly functional packaging of Japanese products. Convenience store rice ball packaging is no exception. The plastic wrap is engineered to keep the seaweed dry and crisp from the sticky white rice. Japanese packaging, if it's difficult to open then you're doing it wrong.
